The Green Spot and the Water Bill
After watching the lawn dry out this summer and a snakey green patch grow from the hydrant to the house I finally realized that the high waterbill and the evergreen patch could only mean one thing. A leak in the water line!!!
After a soggy dig at the lushest green spot the leak was located. A previous repair job in evidence with pin sized holes spraying out into a gurgling puddle. I shut off the main and replaced the section with some galvanized pipe, then later replaced the galvanized with some cpvc. Now that spot will dry out like the rest of the lawn. All the easier to thatch and re-seed and start watering from the top next summer.

Freaky Friday
Sorry for the graphic image. This scene was right outside
on the corner of the house in Klawock. The boys next door
were soaking the heads of their deer. Supposedly to get the
antlers off easier. But I was suprised to come walking around
the corner and see the submerged staring deer eye looking at
me though blood tinted water. We went for a drive out to sandy
beaches yesterday and saw plenty of living deer on the way back.
I'll be posting some living deer images soon.
Klawock Village in the 20's
Found this photo of the village of Klawock taken in
the winter of 1927. I'm currently hanging out here
with family on vacation. Enjoying the quite and peace.
Even though at high tide the the salmon are jumping
right outside my window and there is a constant
drumming of raindrops on the roof, all is calm up here
in the northern territory.

Under the Blackout Pen
The memoryhole blog has a few links to the Sgrena
report issued by the US Army. Guilaiana Sgrena is the
Italian journalist rescued from kidnappers in Baghdad, Iraq
by Italian military intelligence agent Nicola Calipari who was
killed by US soldiers after the escape. The driver Andrea Carpani
and Sgrena were both injured in the incident.
About a third of the report is classified but thanks to mistakes
in their blackout technique it is possible to see under the pen
and read what was meant to be secret. The report is in PDF
format, by copying and pasting the text you get everything out
from under the blackout pen.

Alien base in backyard?
Lawnsaucer
I was mowing the lawn this weekend and came across
a strange buried tube concealed by the overgrown crabgrass.
Upon further inspection I found that the tube is a 3" pvc pipe
buried vertically in the very corner of the lawn and filled
with sand. Digging the sand out of the top of the tube revealed
a 3" diameter top section with a rubber seal about a foot down
connecting to a 2" diameter piece. Now I am only speculating
at this point but I may have found the decomissioned breathing
tube for an a underground fallout shelter or tunnel complex.
Yet most likely it is something completely mundane and normal.

World Water Day
March 22, is "World Water Day"
from article-
"Some 2.4 billion people have no toilets or sewers, and 1.1 billion do not even have drinkable water. Every day, an estimated 22,000 people, half of them children, die of diseases borne by polluted water, such as typhoid, cholera, malaria and diarrhoea."

Saturday Night Fireball
meteor
We were driving south on I-5 Saturday night and witnessed
a bright white light get brighter and spawn a magnificent
blue-green tail. It looked like it crashed to earth but
scientist guess it went into the Pacific. It looked so close
but people saw it from Portland to the Tri-Cities and
all over Seattle. Wow! I was too stunned to grab my camera.

The Original Playa from the Himalayas
Go Dutt!
It is not rare to be a traveler in India and find yourself in front of a
television screen filled with images of sweaty pro-wrestlers. You may
even find the people around you cheering for their favorites.

in the morning
two
Under heaven all can see beauty as beauty only because
there is ugliness.
All can know good as good only because there is evil.
Therefore having and not having arise together.
Difficult and easy complement each other.
Long and short contrast each other;
High and low rest upon each other;
Voice and sound harmonize each other;
Front and back follow one another.
Therefore the sage goes about doing nothing, teaching
no-talking.
The ten thousand things rise and fall without cease,
Creating, yet not possessing,
Working, yet not talking credit.
Work is done, then forgotten.
Therefore it lasts forever.

anti-gravity research
If you would like building your own flying saucer check out
the website of JL Naudin; an anti-gravity researcher
from France. Ever feel like making an advanced plasma reactor
out of you microwave oven? Great photos and diagrams.

Or the folks at American Antigravity have a nice web resource
with lots of good replications of the lifter experiment.

disney and the ufo
alien broadcast company
"Peter Jennings Reporting: UFOs - Seeing Is Believing"
airs Thursday, Feb. 24 from 8-10 p.m. ET on ABC
"It was Ward Kimball, who at the July 1979 MUFON UFO
symposium in California, told of his interest in the
subject of UFOs. Then to a stunned audience he related
the story of how the American government had approached
Walt Disney himself prior to Sputnik to make a UFO
documentary to help acclimatize the American population
to the reality of extraterrestrials."

trout
buhl skate park
This summer I will have to make a pilgrimage out to Buhl Idaho, my hometown, the trout capital of america, now home to the largest "cradle" in the world. The cradle is a half-sphere of smooth concrete formed inside a marvelous skate park built with support from the city by the guys at dreamlandskateparks.
We would have worshiped at this temple morning and night if it was around when we were kids in Buhl. Instead we were chased from the bank steps, skated the gravelly sidewalks, snuck into the metal grate banks of the simplot wheat bins, surfed the tennis court banks, and took polyurethane to anything we could find.

over the mountain
tahoma
A photo of mount rainier. The original is color, turned it to grayscale to match the aesthetics of this blog. Ansel Adams has set the standard in black and white wilderness photography we simply have fun in the mountains and snap a few shots hoping to capture the legendary flying saucers hovering above the mountains. The term flying saucer started over this mountain in 1947 when Kenneth Arnold; a pilot flying near mount rainier reported seeing nine bright saucer like objects. Some nice ufo photos here too. http://www.ufoevidence.org/photographs/photohome.asp
Who knows?
