Finally got over to the Frye Museum to view the many wondered paintings of Mark Ryden. Amazing paintings with intensely detailed frames. Great show. Viewing these painting I get an odd reminiscent feeling of our collective human past. Like exploring an old attic and finding a plaster faced, stuffed bunny tragically and gleefully staring out from among the antiquities. Mark Ryden has a great ability to gather this storm from the collective unconscious and shape it into a symbolic narrative of the present. I'll go back for another look.
